WASHING
Some important points to keep in mind while laundering towels:
- Towels should be washed before using and for this first time
washing, one half to 1 cup of white vinegar can be added to set
the dyes.
|
- The manufacturer's instructions on the label should be
followed, always.
- Whites and colored ones should be washed separately.
- Bleach should not be used.
- Mild bleach alternatives can be used to prevent whites from
dulling and to maintain colors.
- Heavily soiled ones should be washed separately.
- Extra care should be taken for towels with delicate
embellishments, like mild detergent and light washing.
- Fabric softener should not be used and towels should not be
ironed because both reduce absorbency.
|
DRYING
- Towels should not be dried completely in the dryer, it can weaken
fibers. They should be dried on low temperature and take out when
they are slightly damp.
- If they have to be air-dried, they should be shook before and
after drying, it will fluff up the terry loops.
FOLDING
Folding a towel in the right way is important. First of all it should
be lay on a flat surface to smooth out wrinkles. Then one-third of it
should be folded lengthwise, and the other third should be folded over
that. Then, by matching the ends to each other, the towel should be
folded in half and it should be folded again into half or just roll it
for a spa look.
