Terry Towel
Terry is a fabric with loops
on both sides. The loops are woven by a weaving process which include an
extra warp yarn for making the loops. CHARACTERISTICS The main characteristics of a terry towel are:
The weight, stitch density and height of the pile are the determining factors for the quality of terry. Closer or denser loops are of the superior quality and longer loops give better absorbency and durability. A longer loop and a less twisted yarn shortens the durability of a towel. VARIETY Terry is very flexible in the sense that they can be bleached, dyed or printed. Sometimes the loops or pile is on only one side, then it is known as 'Turkish toweling'. All kinds of work like embroidery, print, hand painting, monogram, and appliqué, etc. can be done to beautify terry towels. USES Whatever the materials from which the towels are made, they are basically made with loops, i.e. in terry style. So, terry is a very important part and parcel for making towels. Apart from their use in day to day life, terry cloth towels of superior quality are used for promotional purposes. |
